One Night Stands In Business

Someone recently referred to some business practices as One Night Stands. People in businesses targeting women need to realise that those women that they are seek to engage in services and product are looking for connection and authenticity.

So many business practices are still managed in a male centric system. While that has worked for many previously, our business world is changing and women are stepping into business and entrepreneurship faster and stronger than ever.

If your target market or niche is female then you need to become the person that fits that market. If you are operating from a male centric core, especially in networking businesses, then you may do well for a while but the attitude of “if they aren’t with me, then bugger them” will not serve you well later.

Building a “Know, Like and Trust” business on the other hand will become self-perpetuating in the long run.

Much of this “feeling” comes from the habit many have of pitching to their brand new social media contacts. Primarily it seems by those in MLM businesses, and this directive seems to come from the Company management.

Let’s recognise that in many of these companies, the management are not on the ground building businesses, they are not active in the same types of social media and they certainly don’t seem to be reading what is said by others on social media.

So with that in mind, should agents be listening to these people?

The other distasteful attitude and behaviour is that of dumping people if they don’t purchase or join the business in question.  Just because someone does not choose to use your services or follow you in your path, does not mean they won’t recommend you to others, or for that matter, choose to engage later.

There are many out there that quietly sit in the background before buy a product, while others just jump in. If you dump the quiet one in the background, you may have given them good reason to recommend against you later.

For engagement a number of exchanges and/or connections need to be made, by limiting that process you limit your market, so value the people in your life regardless of their decisions around your career of choice (unless they are derogatory publicly) and patiently remain polite and friendly for that may well pay dividends later.

While we are on that, if you try to fake this, your true intent will show through, you will slip up with a comment or an attitude and people will realise that your friendship is not what you say it is.

Make a choice to have integrity in your dealings with others and while growth may not be as strong as others initially, you will reap the benefits in many unexpected ways as time goes on.
